Sunday 10:30 a.m.
Dear OCC family,
Your health and safety is our main concern.
At the building, we strive to take care of each other:
  • Clean your hands--hand sanitizer is provided at the doors
  •   Communion   --    Two cups stacked -- the bottom cup has the bread, the top has the juice.
  • Family groups may sit together.       Alternating pews are blocked off, to help us keep our healthy distance.
  • Maintain distancing   where possible
  • Masks   are  optional
We also broadcast live online.  If you   have health concerns, please join us online.
Get the Oakland Church of Christ Sunday Worship in a Podcast.  Get the Sermon.net  app and search for Oakland Church of Christ under the  "Search Ministries" area.

Worship

Picture
On Sundays  we come together to worship God and his only son, Jesus Christ.

Why gather at the church every week?
All through the Bible, we’re reminded to gather together.
Attending  church    reminds us we’re not alone, it   also gives us a time, set apart, to worship God.

Picture
What should I wear?
What you  normally wear out in public. Some of us show up in t-shirt and jeans, others in suit and ties, and the rest everything in between. When in doubt, modesty is the best policy.
Do I need to bring a Bible?
We have Bibles available. We'll help you turn to the right page. You can even keep it!
On your phone, go to Bible.com or download their Bible app. If you have a Bible, bring it!
Do you just want my money?
You are our guest! We only expect our members to give. We won't even wiggle a plate under your nose!
If you would like to give, offering boxes are in the worship room at the back row or you may give online.

Communion

Picture
We offer Communion  every Sunday.   We eat    a little bit of bread and drink grape juice to remind us that Jesus died for our sins.
Who may participate in Communion?
Christ died for everyone. Anyone who wants to remember and proclaim Christ with us may participate. The Bible says you should examine yourself before eating and drinking (1 Cor. 11:27-30). We will not  question you or your motives.   (Parents, you decide if your children may or may not participate.)

Why take it  every week?
Communion reminds us of what Jesus did for us.   After the first communion, Jesus Christ died on the cross. He gave his body and blood for us. The bread and grape juice remind us of  his sacrifice for us and through it we   proclaim    the death and resurrection of   Jesus.

  • The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you;   do this in remembrance of me.”
  • In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it,   in remembrance of me.”
  • For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you    proclaim   the Lord's death until he comes.
  • 1 Corinthians 11:23-26  (NIV)
